The hospitality sector has to open its doors to customers, in doing so some of the barriers that help protect venues are removed. Where this occurs it is important to enhance the levels of training and education given to staff in support of security risk management activities.
Our Hospitality Programmes
Due to the sectors' unique requirement to engage with, and allow access to the public the threats facing those engaged in hospitality activities are increased. Whilst there may be a need for the presence of security personnel in many cases it is not wanted, nor is it affordable.
Trident Manor has developed a number of programmes that can be used by many to add a collaborative layer of security to venues at a reduced cost by increasing awareness and vigilance. The following are some of the programmes offered to the hospitality sector:
Situational Awareness Workshop: Having staff that are alert and vigilant to the threats that exist provides those within the sector with an additional layer of security. This programme is suitable for all members of staff and encourages the proactive engagement in protective activities that help identify and mitigate some of the risks that exist. The workshop increases awareness levels of delegates so they are aware of the threats that exist and how they can manifest themselves. The workshop identifies proactive steps that can take by everybody to reduce and help manage the risks faced.(Half day)
Behavioural Analysis Workshop: This workshop is designed for those hospitality staff who are involved in security activities, or are front of house, and customer facing. It provides the delegates with an ability to critically analyse behavioural activities in order to identify possible digressions from normal or expected behaviour. This workshop is especially beneficial for those organisations responsible for stewardship of sporting events or crowded spaces.(Half day)
PSSW™ (Personal Safety & Security Workshop): This well established programme has been delivered nationally and internationally to over 300 delegates. It is especially beneficial where staff are at an increased risk of violence, threats and intimidation. The programme centres around conflict identification and avoidance instead of conflict management which is viewed as missing the opportunity to stay safe. Organisations sending staff on this workshop can be confident they are giving staff valuable personal security skills whilst demonstrating a proactive approach to their duty of care obligations. (5-6 hours)
Emergency Planning Training: Having emergency plans is a positive step to managing organisational risks but have a limited use if not practised and exercised. Trident Manor works with clients to introduce phased learning experiences for those involved in emergency or crisis responses within the hospitality industry. Following a review of the plans ‘tabletop’ exercises are undertaken before progressing onto partial or full exercises. After each stage of the training an evaluation and review takes place to improve or reduce vulnerabilities and ensure clients exposure to risks are being met.(Various, subject to client requirements)
Workplace Violence Workshop: The hospitality sector through its public interaction is more prone to incidents of workplace violence than many other industries. The workshop helps delegates understand the threat sources that exist whether internal or external threats and provides sensible solutions for managing and mitigating the impact of such actions. By increasing the levels of awareness organisations can be more proactive at protecting their staff and minimising their exposure to operational disruption and reputational damage. (Half day)
