Attending the Saudi Arabian Conference on Combatting Cultural Property Trafficking

On Wednesday the 29th of October 2025 Andy Davis attended the conference hosted by the Heritage Commission, which is a part of the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Culture. He joined delegates from around the world who discussed different strategies that are being used to combat the looting and smuggling of global cultural heritage.

Sessions included a sharing of the different laws and treaties that exist to combat the trafficking of cultural heritage, collaborative work that exists from UN departments, law enforcement agencies, and governmental departments. In addition, it was great to see innovative operational practices to support the tracking of distribution networks involved in the smuggling operations.

Andy Davis commented, “It was great to attend such an event as a delegate. It allowed me to learn and absorb information from global experts while considering ways in which Trident Manor can play a proactive part in helping reduce the risks by evaluating proactive preventative measures before the smuggling activities start.

Trident Manor is going to work with international partners and develop two new programmes that can be delivered globally at the grassroots level and those operationally expected to prevent/reduce the incidents from occurring in the first instance. In doing so Trident Manor will continue to support the global protection of cultural heritage for future generations.
