Cultural Support Ahead of New Exhibitions

During November, Trident Manor consultants were asked to visit several cultural venues across the Northeast and the East Midlands to advise on their protection measures, specifically as they have aspirations to borrow loans covered under GIS and from National Collections.

One venue is a long-standing community hub which wishes to draw more visitors to an exciting new international exhibition, and another venue is undergoing a redevelopment project and plans to ensure its exhibition spaces conform to and meet the appropriate levels to receive loans from National Collections.

At Trident Manor, we often see an increase in requests for our services at the end of the calendar year, due to the increase in new exhibitions that take place at the start of the subsequent calendar year. If you are expecting a new exhibition to take place at your venue in Q1 or Q2 of 2026, whether or not you plan on borrowing items from National Collections or under GIS, we urge you to think about the security considerations surrounding your exhibition, as the nature of the loan items may introduce new security risks. Too often, we see that risk assessments for new exhibitions are not undertaken until it is too late.
