Data Cleansing Audit - Ireland

Tuesday, 20th January 2026

Data is a valuable commodity and sought after by criminals, terrorists, and spies. Therefore, it is important to protect an organisation's data even when the hardware is no longer used.

Data Cleansing Audit - Ireland

At the start of January 2026, Andy Davis, our Managing Director, visited the south coast of Ireland to undertake a security audit of an organisation directly involved in the electronic data cleansing of hard drives and other storage devices.

This involved providing corrupted HDD and SSD devices, which the venue was to clean while taking from precleaned stock SSD and HDD items so they could be forwarded to a lab for full electronic testing and analysis.

These processes are important to reduce the intentional or accidental release of data and minimise adversarial collection opportunities. It provides those sending their data off for erasure with assurance that steps are being taken to protect their data, but it also means greater sustainability by reusing data storage devices.

Andy commented, “There is a need for effective security to exist at venues that ensures tight access control, sterile cleansing processes, and auditable processes exist. In doing so, future risks are reduced, there is an increase in sustainability, and the environmental impact is reduced.” “It was great to see and experience such a professional approach in a tightly controlled environment. I was reassured that the processes and physical security were sound; it is over to the scientists to confirm the same.”
