Recently, Trident Manor conducted a security risk assessment at a historic cathedral ahead of the arrival of a loan item, marking the first time the venue had undertaken such a review. Security reviews for cultural and heritage sites are often undertaken in preparation for high-profile exhibitions and loan items, but they can also provide a valuable opportunity to evaluate protective security arrangements.

Religious buildings are very unique venues, in that they serve so many important functions; they are places of worship, heritage attractions, and community spaces, often welcoming large numbers of visitors while safeguarding significant cultural and historical assets. Balancing accessibility and openness with effective protective security can therefore be a challenging, especially within historic buildings where physical alterations may be limited.

In this case, the assessment proved to be a positive experience for the cathedral team. Strong measures were already in place, and the discussion focused on identifying proportionate enhancements that would support the safe display of the incoming loan item while complementing existing operational practices.
