Following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding earlier this year between Trident Manor and SOS Archivi, TM Training Academy will deliver two online workshops to benefit members of the SOS Archivi association and external professionals involved in the protection of cultural assets.

The first event on the 17th December 2021 will follow the contents of our CPD certified cultural venue protection programme, while the second has been scheduled for 25 January 2022 and will cover our CPD Certified ‘Situational Awareness’ Programme. The aim of both workshops is to support and enable the protection of cultural venues and the artefacts contained within.

“We are very happy to support our Italian colleagues in increasing knowledge and awareness of the threats and risks that can impact the cultural heritage sector, the content of these programmes help differentiate between a proactive preventative approach and reactive response”, commented Andy Davis, Managing Director at Trident Manor.

According to the latest report published by Nucleo Carabinieri per la Tutela del Patrimonio Culturale (Carabinieri TPC – Italian police service ) in 2020, 287 works were stolen, and 501,574 items worth an estimated €333.6m recovered. This was primarily down to the hard work and dedication of the Carabinieri TPC. However, what if heritage professionals also play an active role in protecting and minimising the risks of loss or damage to cultural assets, be they buildings, collections, monuments, or other artefacts?

“The two workshops are aimed at curators, front-house staff, invigilators, literally anyone that is working either as a member of staff or volunteer in cultural venues. We want to empower those that look after museums, archives, galleries and sites as part of their daily work to provide them with the skills and knowledge of what to look out for and the steps that can be taken to better protect cultural venues, colleagues, and the public from possible adversarial threats”, said Valentina Sabucco, Cultural Protection Lead at Trident Manor.

A seguito del Protocollo d'Intesa siglato a inizio anno tra Trident Manor e SOS Archivi, TMTA terra' due seminari per i membri dell'associazione SOS Archivi e per professionisti esterni coinvolti nella protezione dei beni culturali.

Il primo evento, in data 17 Dicembre 2021, seguira' i contenuti del nostro programma sulla protezione dei luoghi culturali certificato CPD, mentre il secondo evento, in data 25 Gennaio 2022, comprendera' il nostro programma di consapevolezza situazionale anche'esso certificato CPD. L'obbiettivo di entrambi i seminari e' di fornire supporto e agevolare la protezione dei luoghi culturali e degli oggetti in essi custoditi.

"Siamo molto lieti di aiutare i nostri colleghi italiani ad accrescere la loro conoscenza e consapevolezza delle minacce e rischi che possono avere un impatto sul settore dei beni culturali. Il contenuto di questi programmi aiuta a distinguere tra approccio protettivo preventivo e risposta reattiva" ha commentato Andy Davis, Managing Director di Trident Manor.

Secondo l'ultimo report pubblicato dal Nucleo Carabinieri per la Tutela del Patrimonio Culturale (Carabinieri TPC), nel 2020, 287 opere sono state rubate, e 501574 oggetti, per un valore di circa €333.6m, sono stati recuperati. Questo e' stato reso possibile in primo luogo grazie all'intenso lavoro e dedizione dei Carabinieri TPC. Ma che cosa succederebbe se anche i professionisti dei beni culturali avessero un ruolo attivo nel proteggere e diminuire i rischi di perdite o danni ai beni culturali come edifici, collezioni, monumenti, o altri siti?

"I due seminari sono indirizzati a curatori, personale d'accoglienza, sorveglianti, letteralmente a chiunque lavori sia come membro dello staff o come volontario nei luoghi culturali. Vogliamo facilitare coloro che si occupano di musei, archivi, gallerie, e siti nelle loro mansioni quotidiane fornendo loro competenze e conoscenze di cio' a cui prestare attenzione e delle misure che possono essere intraprese per meglio proteggere i beni culturali, colleghi, e il pubblico da possibili minacce avversarie", ha detto Valentina Sabucco, Cultural Protection Lead a Trident Manor.
