Presentation Delivered as Part of Blue Shield Webinar Series

On Friday the 25th of April 2025, Andy Davis delivered an online presentation on "Current threats facing the Cultural Heritage Sectors" as part of Blue Shield's free monthly lunchtime webinar series about conflict and the risks to UK heritage.

The presentation examined some of the threat sources that are impacting the cultural and heritage sectors across the UK and internationally including from organised crime, global conflict, insider threats, terrorists and protesters. It discussed the current security situation and briefly mentioned some steps that can be taken to proactively reduce and manage risks.

The importance of effective operational ractices, governance and documentation was highlighted in particular as a useful measure to be considered, as this is often where the most significant gaps and vulnerabilities can lie.

There was an opportunity at the end of the session for attendees to participate in a Q&A, which brought about discussions around convincing cultural sector stakeholders that security is a worthy investment, and how best to manage the risks of insider threats before individuals become "insiders".

Our thanks go to Emma Cunliffe and Blue Shield UK for organising this webinar series. If you would like to watch any future monthly sessions, be sure to register on their website.
