Security Visit at Local Museum and Store

In late April 2025, Trident Manor conducted a security review for a local heritage museum and museum store run by a council in the northwest of England, ahead of their accreditation renewal.

The museum and its store hold a variety of collections, including items of local historical significance and other items of international significance. The Trident Manor team were pleased to see that sensible and pragmatic security measures had been well-considered for the items that had lower target attractiveness, and more robust measures had been implemented for the items that were deemed more at risk.

The Trident Manor team were also able to provide advice for meeting GIS (Government Indemnity Scheme) requirements, as the museum team had raised an interest in understanding what options might be available if GIS cover were to be sought in the future. In this advice, it was emphasised that plans for meeting GIS requirements should be carefully considered, and a business case should be made as to why it would be beneficial for the organisation to have spaces that can hold items covered under GIS. Sometimes meeting GIS requirements can be costly, especially for older buildings, and the return on investment is not always worthwhile.
