SFJ Awards Level 3 Award in Counter-Terrorism Protective Security and Preparedness FAQs

Last week, Trident Manor Training Academy completed the delivery of the 5-day in-person training for the SFJ Awards Level 3 Award in Counter-Terrorism Protective Security and Preparedness.

With several more programmes coming up this year we have decided to answer some frequently asked questions regarding the qualification:

What is the Level 3 Award in Counter-Terrorism Protective Security and Preparedness?

It is a UK-regulated qualification developed by SFJ Awards, Counter-Terrorism Police, and National Counter-Terrorism Security Office (NaCTSO). It is designed to upskill professionals, raise industry standards, and help organisations better understand and mitigate their terrorism-related risks, following the roll out of Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025 (TPoP - also known as Martyn's Law).

Target Audience

Anyone involved in the protection of qualifying venues and events from the threat of terrorism. The qualification provides a strong foundation in counter-terrorism measures and is suitable for anyone within your organisation who would benefit from a deeper understanding of counter-terrorism protective security and preparedness. However, the protective security and risk management approaches can reduce the risk posed by multiple other threats. This includes the 'Competent Person', safety and security managers, risk management professionals, operational leads, event planners, local authorities, police officers, leadership teams, and risk owners.

Why is it Important?

Terrorism Kills! This programme has been designed and developed to reduce the loss of life and injuries posed by acts of terrorism. This qualification can provide individuals and organisations with the knowledge and skills needed to:

  • Identify terrorist threats and attack methodologies
  • Assess the risk the threats pose to organisations, venues, and events
  • Develop preparedness plans to reduce and manage the risks
  • Prepare risk recommendations for the ‘Responsible Person’ and Leadership Team.

Our next delivery of the programme will take place from the 18th-22nd of May. To book, click this link: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/level-3-award-in-co...
