Lone Worker Protection

Friday, 16th October 2020

Services delivered for a national organisation that employs lone workers and those at increased risks due to engagement with drug and alcohol users.

Trident Manor was tasked by a national laboratory engaged nationally in the taking of samples relating to drugs and alcohol misuse to deliver personal safety and security training for the workforce. It was decided that our accredited PSSW-Personal Safety & Security Workshop programme would be the most appropriate and beneficial for staff as it provided advice and guidance on how to proactively identify, understand the threats and take steps to AVOID conflict situations.

It was identified that the programme offered empowerment to the individuals and provided a means of them taking a proactive approach to avoiding the conflict situation by interventions during the escalation process whilst acknowledging that not all conflicts can be avoided and protective actions could be taken to minimise harm and remove oneself from the situation.

Main contents include:

  1. Situational Awareness
  2. Risk Management Processes
  3. The Attack Cycle
  4. Communication Skills
  5. Conflict Avoidance
  6. Post Incident Actions

Due to COVID restrictions the face to face interactions are not possible but the programme was still able to be delivered online and ensure audience engagement and participation.

At the end of the programme the diverse workforce is better equipped to proactively identify, understand and react to potential threats to their personal safety and security. Resulting in them remaining safe and secure, whilst the organisation has demonstrated delivery of their duty of care obligations.
